The Dodge City High girls soccer team fell for their second straight game to a Wichita opponent, this time by a 4-2 decision to Wichita Heights at Memorial Stadium.
The Lady Demons (4-7) have lost their last two games after winning four of five, but DCHS soccer head coach Charles Johnson said the team is still improving and can be a force later in the season and the playoffs.
"While we didn't come away with the
win, we believe we are on the right track and will continue to fine tune as we finish the regular season in preparation for the playoffs. The team worked hard the entire match even though they went down early and fell behind 3-1 they never gave up.Alondra Romo scored the Lady Demons' first goal, unassisted in the 36th minute; while Cynthia Rodela scored the second tally on an assist by Mercedes Sanchez in the 67th minute.
The Lady Demons play again next Tuesday in a Western Athletic Conference matchup at Garden City, scheduled to start at 4 p.m.
