Bernice Christine Lampe Robinson was born on June 28, 1926 to Bernard John Lampe and Catherine Elizabeth Kuhl Lampe in Meade, Kansas.
Bernice Christine Lampe Robinson was born on June 28, 1926 to Bernard John Lampe and Catherine Elizabeth Kuhl Lampe in Meade, Kansas. Bernice had eight brothers and sisters. The Lampe family moved to White Church, Mo. to farm but fell on hard times when the home was destroyed by fire. Bernice graduated from high school in White Church and went on to study nursing at St. Anthony Hospital School of Nursing in Dodge City, Kan., graduating in the class of 1948. She was licensed as a Registered Nurse in Missouri in 1949 and worked in St. Louis. She later moved to Dodge City and met her husband Dean Robinson while working at Trinity Hospital in Dodge City. They were married September 1, 1955, at Sacred Heart Cathedral in Dodge City. Dean and Bernice had four children, Karen, Michael, Gregory and Mary. The family moved to San Diego in 1967. Bernice soon got a job as a contract nurse at Balboa Naval Hospital where she worked until her retirement. Bernice was an avid bridge player and she belonged to several clubs and played until the last year of her life. Bernice had a kind heart and loved to be with friends and family. Bernice died on April 10, 2013 at Scripps Mercy Hospital in San Diego surrounded by her family. She was preceded in death by her husband Dean, her daughter Mary and seven of her brothers and sisters. A funeral mass will be offered for Bernice at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 25 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in San Diego. Her son Fr. Michael Robinson will be the main celebrant with Bishop Cirilo Flores in attendance. Donations to the Church are suggested in lieu of flowers.
