  • Ronald Duane Wells, 73, died Wednesday, April 24, 2013 at Presbyterian Manor of the Plains in Dodge City. He was born July 5, 1939 on the family farm at Olcott, Kan. in Reno County to Conrad and Virginia (Cunningham) Wells. He married Vicki Amerine June 5, 1960 in Turon, Kan. and later married Nancy Hedding April 18, 1994 in Pratt, Kan. He attended Langdon schools and graduated from Langdon High School in 1957. He lived in Hutchinson from 1961 to 1967 and Dodge City from 1967 until 1992. He spent ten enjoyable years living on the Gulf Coast of Mississippi and returned to Dodge City in 2005 because of Hurricane Katrina and has resided in Dodge City since. Before retirement, Ron worked in heavy equipment sales. He was preceded in death by his father in 1946. He is survived by his mother and step-father, Virginia and John Greer, Langdon, Kan.; son, Scott Wells and wife Penny, Dodge City; daughter Terri Nazarenus and husband Corbin, Dodge City; four grandchildren, Lloyd Childers and wife Maranda, Jake Wells and wife Hayley, Treva Van Auken and husband Brady and Alex Nazarenus; and three great-grandchildren. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. There will be no visitation, cremation has taken place. The family suggests memorials to Dodge City Public Library or Presbyterian Manor of the Plains both in care of Ziegler Funeral Chapel, 1901 N. 14th Ave., Dodge City, Kansas 67801.
