Max K. Patterson, 83, died Saturday, April 27, 2013 at Meade District Hospital, Meade.
He was born November 18, 1929 in Ford, the son of Edwin Harold (Pat) and Marguerite (Snook) Patterson.
He was raised in Ford, graduating from Ford High School in 1947. Max married Neva Rinehart on August 10, 1947 in Ford. She survives. They moved to Copeland in 1950 where they raised three children together. He farmed south of Copeland for 63 years. Max loved his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He attended many basketball games and concerts for them. Max was very proud of their accomplishments.
He was a member of the Copeland Methodist Church.
Max is also survived by two sons, Wade Patterson and wife Glenda and Jack Patterson and wife Cindy both of Copeland; one daughter, Nikki Myers and husband Steve of Maize; twin sister, Marilyn Simpson of Dodge City; six grandchildren, Jeremy Patterson and wife Carlotta of Sublette, Brooke Bultena and husband Mike also of Sublette, Hanna Swanson and husband Erik of Kansas City, Mo., Graham Patterson and fiance Gina Newsham of Topeka, Dylan Myers and wife Taryn of Maize, and Clint Myers and wife Kristin of Prairie Village; five great grandchildren, Katelyn Butler and husband Michael of Stillwater, Okla., Max Patterson II of Hays, Ellie Bultena of Sublette, Cohen Myers and Reegan Myers both of Maize.
He is preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Richard (Dick)Patterson; and one sister, Beverly Burns.
Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 2, 2013 at Copeland Methodist Church with Rev. Scharleen Cross presiding. Burial will follow at Copeland Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 1, 2013 at Swaim Funeral Chapel of Sublette with the family receiving friends from 7 to 8 p.m.
