  • Lucy Jo McMillen Flowers, 89, passed away from this life to be with the Lord on May 1, 2013 at Good Samaritan Center, Dodge City. She was born on February 17, 1924 at Clarendon, Texas the daughter of Willie Richard and Carol (Walls) Hill. She was the first of six children born to the Hill family. She married Carl McMillen on August 10,1940. She moved to Dodge City in 1944 while Carl was in the Navy. After Carl passed away on January 4,1983 Lucy married Cecil Flowers on May 10,1994.   Cecil preceded her in death on May 19,1997. Lucy was a homemaker and also did volunteer work transcribing books into Braille for the blind. She gave much of her little income to missionaries, preacher students and orphans homes. She was a faithful Christian and member of the Church of Christ all of her adult life. She was a member of the Church of Christ of Dodge City. She is survived by two daughters Betty Page of Dodge City, and Debbie Datel of Scotts Bluff, Neb.; two sons Stanley McMillen of Dodge City, and Larence Darrel McMillen of Lubbock, Texas. She is also survived by one brother, Richard David Hill of Greenvalley, Ariz.; two sisters Iree Boyter of Greenvalley, Ariz., and Jane Underwood of Derby; nine grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. Memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 4, 2013 at Church of Christ with Stanley and Darrel McMillen presiding. Inurnment will follow at Greencrest Cemetery in Dodge City. There will be no public visitation as cremation has taken place.  Memorials are suggested to Maude Carpenter Children's Home in care of the funeral home.  Thoughts and memories may be shared in the online guest book at www.swaimfuneralhome.com.
