Richard D. Hancock, 83, died Tuesday, April 30, 2013, at the Missouri Veterans Home in Warrensburg, Mo. Richard was born in Wichita, Kan. on September 25, 1929, to Lloyd and Cora Bell Hancock. He was raised and educated in Dodge City, Kan. He enlisted into the United States Air Force on October 30, 1950, serving during the Korean Conflict and was honorably discharged on August 18, 1954. On March 9, 1968, he was united in marriage to Alice June Moore in Anchorage, Ala. Richard worked for the school system in Anchorage where he was a bus driver. He retired in 1983 and they moved to Delta, Colo. In 1993 they moved to Lincoln, Mo. He was a member of the Lincoln First Baptist Church, serving in the Brotherhood Group. He and his wife, Alice, started the Christian Outreach Mission in Lincoln, Mo. They loved RV camping and were members of the Golden Valley Roamers. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, two grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Surviving is his wife, Alice June, a resident of the Lincoln Care Center; two sons, Larry and wife, Judy Hancock of LaPine, Ore., and Scott and his wife, Laura Hancock of Anchorage, Ala.; a daughter, Debbie Genty, of Bastrop, Texas; and a step-daughter, Diana Lay of Sterling, Ala.;13 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren; a brother, Kenneth Hancock of Salt Lake City, Utah; a sister-in-law, Sylvia Moore, of Lincoln; many life-long friends and the loving caregivers at the Missouri Veterans Home in Warrensburg, Mo. Funeral services for Richard Hancock will be at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, May 4, 2013, at the Davis-Miller Funeral Home, Lincoln, Mo. Burial will be in Tebo Cemetery near Leesville, MO.
