  • Rita Diane Ward, 63, died Saturday, April 20, 2013 at her daughter's residence in El Mirage, Ariz.
    She was born on January 26, 1950 at Pocahontas, Arkansas the daughter of Freda J. and Pearlie Mae (Clark) Cox. She was raised up in the Baptist faith.
    She came with her family to Dodge City in 1961 and graduated from Dodge City High School in 1967. In 1979 she married Hal R. Ward. They later divorced. Diane worked with her mother at Mom's Taco Palace of Ingalls and later for Osborn Liquor in Cimarron. In August of 2012 she moved from Cimarron to El Mirage, Ariz.
    She enjoyed gardening and reading but most of all she loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. Everybody loved her and she would do anything for anyone.
    Diane is survived by a son, Dustin Cox of Phoenix, Ariz.; a daughter, Roxie Ward of El Mirage, Ariz.; two brothers, Danny Cox and wife Dana of Wright and Tim Cox, Wichita; a sister Donna Esquibel, Dodge City; and six grandchildren, Jonathan Ward, Brayden Ward, Davon Cox, Christian Cox, Abigale Cox and Logan Cox.
    She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother Sammy D. Cox in 2004.
    Memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, May 10, 2013 at Swaim Funeral Home, Dodge City with Gerald Mendenhall presiding. There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place.
    Memorials are suggested to Diane Ward Memorial Fund in care of the funeral home.
