The Dodge City Conquistadors couldn't get their bats going and fell 4-0 to Neosho County in the deciding game of the Region VI first round series Sunday afternoon at Cavalier Field. The Conqs could never get any offense going in their final game of the season against Panthers' starting pitcher Jake Johnson. Johnson gave up only six hits and a walk while striking out three to push the Panthers (31-24) to next week's regional tournament in Wichita. Dodge City wasn't able to get a run across in their final 14 innings against Neosho County after scoring 10 off of the Panthers' ace in Saturday's opener. The Panthers clamped down on their defense after recording eight miscues in the first game, making only five in the other two nine-inning contests. Clayton Brewster was the losing pitcher for the Conqs (32-23). The lefthander gave up three runs, eight hits and a walk while striking out five in 7 2/3 innings. Justin Warne and Connor Goedert hit back-to-back doubles to give the Panthers a 1-0 lead in the first inning; and Neosho added another run in the second on a sacrifice bunt by Colton Crocker. The Conqs had only three men in scoring position through the first seven innings, but couldn't get any of them home. Neosho scored again in the top of the eight on a RBI single by Colby Smith and Warne's hit in the ninth inning scored another for the Panthers.
