  • A Dodge City woman who aided a wanted rapist in a failed escape attempt last summer was sentenced to work release Friday in Ford County District Court. Krystal Galindo, 25, was charged with two misdemeanor counts of interfering with law enforcement for her role in helping 26-year-old Aroldo Guerra-Garcia elude Dodge City authorities. Galindo's sentence carries an underlying sentence of one year in prison for each count to be served concurrently as well as one year of probation. In July 2012, wanted posters were distributed throughout Dodge City and a search was launched for Guerra-Garcia on allegations that he had sexually assaulted a 4-year-old girl. He was arrested July 14 in Shamrock, Texas. Galindo and another Dodge City woman, Bertha Rayo, were arrested along with him. Guerra-Garcia entered an Alford Plea in March on one count of aggravated criminal sodomy and one count of aggravated indecent liberties with a child. By entering an Alford Plea, a defendant asserts his innocence but also admits there is sufficient evidence against him. A charge of rape against Guerra-Garcia was dismissed. Both Galindo and Rayo were initially charged with obstructing the apprehension of prosecution and interfering with a law enforcement officer. Rayo listed Guerra-Garcia as her former husband on Ford County Court documents. She plead guilty to interfering with a law enforcement officer Aug. 2; the other charges against her were dismissed. She was sentenced to 11 months in prison Oct. 3.
