  • The County Commissioners approved the purchase of six low speed, industrial fans to be used at the Western State Bank Expo Center in the Monday evening meeting this week.
The fans will be installed in the concrete side of the building to help circulate more air and keep the building cooler for large events.
"These fans will really make a difference during the trade shows and any other large events at the Expo Center," said Ed Elam, county administrator.
The fans will all be 24 feet in size, and Elam said they will be installed within the next 90 days.
    In other business, the commission:
    • Began the process of foreclosing on eight properties in Ford County that are three years behind in taxes. The landowners have until June 5 to pay the amounts owed, or the property will be auctioned off by the Sheriff.
    • Approved the purchase of new hardware and software for the county attorney's office. Legal software used by the attorneys has not been updated for several years because of outdated hardware in the office, according to Elam. The commissioners approved the purchase of new hardware and software the amount of over $16,000.
    • Appointed Jane Ervin to represent the SouthWest Kansas Area Agency on Aging and Ray Taylor to represent Fort Dodge on the Ford County Council on Aging.
The next County Commission meeting will be held May 20, at 6 p.m.
