The Dodge City Red Demons completed their sweep of the Western Athletic Conference tournaments Tuesday by shooting a 291 at the Liberal Invitational.
The Red Demons had just shot a school-record 290 in the previous tournament at Mariah Hills and was a shot short of repeating their feat. Hays was second in the team standings with a 325 and Garden City third at 340.
Dodge City's Levi Bone won a playoff over teammate Jace Larson after both shot 71 on the course. The Red Demons had the lowest six scores of the tournament: Zach Norton was third at 72, Zach Kirby and Brad Hutton each shot 77 to tie for fourth and Brayden Winans was sixth with a 78.
"This gives us some very good momentum going into the regionals," said Dodge City golf head coach Jim Mapel. "All six players competed hard today and played well. That was a good thing."
The Red Demons also had the top five individuals for the five tournaments and Mapel was named coach of the year. Kirby was the individual player of the year for the WAC, followed by Larson, Bone, Norton and Hutton.
The Class 6A regional will be at Reflection Ridge Golf Course near Wichita next Monday. Tee time is scheduled to start at 9 a.m.
