  • Roto-Mix, LLC, received the 2013 New Product of the Year Award presented by Western Kansas Manufacturers Association (WKMA), sponsor of the annual 3i SHOW.  The award was presented to Roto-Mix Founder Ben Neier by long-time employee and friend Mark Cooksey, General Manager of Retail Operations, with WKMA President Eddie Estes at the annual board meeting May 3.  Roto-Mix President Mike Hilderbrand was also in attendance for the award presentation.  Each year, WKMA solicits nominations from their members for the New Product of the Year Award.  This award recognizes ingenuity and new product development by Western Kansas Manufacturers.
Roto-Mix is a Dodge City based manufacturer of livestock mixing and feeding equipment and recently announced the introduction of a revolutionary new type of feeder box, named the Ration Delivery Box, or RDB. The RDB, designed by Ben Neier, will eventually replace the current line of Roto-Mix feeder boxes. A RDB does not blend a ration like a mixer, but instead delivers rations prepared in finish feed mills with minimum fragile ingredient damage and superior feed bunk control. The RDB utilizes a full width floor belt attached to a moving gate to gently yet accurately deliver the ration smoothly from the rear to a front-mounted chain and slat conveyor for discharge. The driver controls forward movement and unloading speed from the truck cab with two rheostat control dials. Unlike existing feeders, the RDB system includes safeguards that will not allow the driver to bring the ration forward faster that the conveyor is unloading it.
The new RDB system utilizes the same basic body as Roto-Mix’s existing compost and manure spreaders with a unique modular front assembly containing the conveyor and knock down beaters. Neier also developed a hydraulic module specific to the RDB.  The RDB utilizes existing patents in additional to new patents that are being applied for.  Roto-Mix plans to display the RDB as well as other products at the upcoming 3i SHOW July 11, 12 and 13.  For more information about Roto-Mix, visit www.rotomix.com.
