  • Jack H. Patterson, 60, died May 9, 2013 in rural Seward County.  He was born on February 24, 1953 in Dodge City, the son of Max K. and Neva (Rinehart) Patterson.
    Jack was a lifetime resident of Copeland.  He graduated from Copeland High School in 1971.  Jack continued his education at Dodge City Community College and the University of Kansas before returning to the family farm.  On September 21, 1974, he married Cindy Brown at the Satanta Baptist Church.  She survives.  Jack enjoyed music and movies.  He was an avid fan of the Beatles.  Most of all, Jack loved his family.  His children were especially important to him.  He never missed any of their many activities.
    He was a member of the Copeland Methodist Church.
    In addition to his wife Cindy, Jack is survived by two children, Graham Patterson and fiance Gina Newsham of Topeka and Hanna Swanson and husband Erik of Kansas City, Missouri; his mother, Neva Patterson of Copeland; one brother, Wade Patterson and wife Glenda and family; one sister, Nikki Myers and husband Steve and family of Maize.  He is preceded in death by his father.
    Funeral service will be held at Copeland Methodist Church on Monday, May 13, 2013 at 10:30 AM with Pastor Bruce Titus presiding.  Burial will follow at Copeland Cemetery in Copeland.  Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Chapel of Sublette on Sunday, May 12, 2013 from noon to 6:00 PM.  Memorials are suggested to the Ford County Humane Society  in care of the funeral home.  Thoughts and memories may be shared in the online guest book at www.swaimfuneralhome.com.
