B. Lucille Hopkins, 91, died Monday, May 13, 2012 at her home, Dodge City.
She was born October 18, 1921 at Newton, Kansas, the daughter of Victor Russell and Burnice Ada Ragland Giggy. Lucille was an avid artist all her life who specialized in Porcelain, painted a porcelain mural of Our Lady of Guadalupe that is still at the old Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, she was the state president of the Kansas china painters, loved to garden, avid reader and was active in community affairs.
On April 14, 1940 she married Loren A. “Hoppy” Hopkins at McPherson, Kansas. He preceded her in death on February 28, 1988.
Survivors include: 1 son, Daryl Hopkins and wife Glenda, Garden City; 2 daughters, Diane Hopkins Hasik, Dodge City, Denise Koechner and husband Joe, Concordia, Kansas; 1 sister Mary Rux, Marionville, Virginia; daughter-in-law Patsy Hopkins, Dodge City; 12 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by Parents, son David Hopkins, sister, Wilda “Billie” Ragland and a grandson Dale A. Hopkins.
Memorial service will be 2:00 pm Friday May 17, 2013 at Ziegler Funeral Chapel, with Rev. David Williams presiding. There will be no public viewing, cremation has taken place. Friends may sign the register from 9:00 am to 8:00 pm Thursday at Ziegler Funeral Chapel. The family will be present from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the chapel.
