  • Myrtle Lucille Hurley, 99, died May 15, 2013 at her son’s home near Burrton, KS.
    She was born November 7, 1913 in a sod house in NW Kearney County, Kansas to Lloyd Herman and Mary Ann (Hayzlett) Heikes.

  • Myrtle Lucille Hurley, 99, died May 15, 2013 at her son’s home near Burrton, KS.  
    She was born November 7, 1913 in a sod house in NW Kearney County, Kansas to Lloyd Herman and Mary Ann (Hayzlett) Heikes.  
    She graduated from Bucklin High School in 1932.  Lucille lived in Bucklin most
    of her life and is the last surviving child of her parents.  She was active at Bucklin United Presbyterian Church, Odd Fellows, and Eastern Star.  She will be missed by her children, grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
    Lucille married George Lawrence Hurley on July 2, 1932.  To this union was born 11 children.
    She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 6 children: Wallace Dean
    Hurley (infant), Leroy Hurley (infant), Amaryllis Hurley Weikal, Joyce Hurley
    Copeland, Patricia Hurley Gheno, and Douglas Wayne Hurley (infant); 4 brothers: Lawrence, Arthur, Herman, and Warren; 2 sisters: Virginia Birney and Bettie Jo Lininger.
    She is survived by her five sons: Jerry  Hurley and wife Beverly, Redding CA; Art Hurley and wife Terri, Holyrood, KS; Allen Hurley and wife Cynthia of Burrton, KS; Barry Hurley and wife Rejeana of Jefferson City, TN; and Kenneth Hurley and wife Connie of Billings, MO; 20 grandchildren, 41 great grandchildren, 17 great great grandchildren, and 1 great great great grandchild.
    Funeral Service will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday, May 18, 2013 at the Bucklin
    Presbyterian Church officiated by Bishop Quinten Moore.  Burial will follow at
    Bucklin Cemetery.  Visitation is 4 pm to 7 pm Friday, May 17 at Minnis Mortuary, Bucklin KS.  Memorials are suggested to Bucklin Senior Center, c/o Minnis Mortuary, PO Box 516, Bucklin KS 67834.
