  • About the event
    1) Ten different children's stories will be read and performed throughout the mall this Saturday. Volunteers will read popular children's books, such as "The Cat in The Hat", and characters from the books will help enhance the experience.
    2) Spotlight performances will also be taking place every 30 minutes during the event in the movie theater.  These performances will be sure to entertain the whole family.
    3) After children have listened to the stories, they are invited to visit the "bookstore" where they can take home their own copies of all the stories, for free. There will also be parenting books and some books for older children as well. Books are available in English and Spanish.
    Why you should attend
A Living Library is presented by Bright Beginnings Early Childhood Center.
"The whole purpose of this event is to get kids reading during the summer," Donna Crockett, event coordinator said. "We're trying to get the whole family involved in showing kids how important and fun reading can be."
Last year, over 275 books were given away as part of this event, and organizers hope to give even more away this year.
"We really hope that lots of families will come out," Crockett said, "and get some new books for their children to enjoy this summer. That's the whole point, keeping kids engaged in reading."
