If you drove past Comanche Middle School on Sunday, you caught a glimpse of the school's field covered with tents, parked bicycles and cyclist clothing hanging up to dry; all a part of the Biking Across Kansas (BAK) annual, eight-day, bicycle tour.
This year, Dodge City was starred on BAK's 2013 route map and approximately 53 participants elected to camp out Sunday night before riding out to Coldwater, Monday morning.
What is the purpose of BAK?
According to Biking Across Kansas official website, www.bak.org, BAK "promotes health and wellness through bicycling, the history and beauty of Kansas, and the warm hospitality of the Kansas towns and people".
