Manuel R. Esquibel, 51, died June 8, 2013 at Dodge City. He was born on September 1, 1961 at Jetmore, the son of Manuel S. and Charlotte A. (Herrera) Esquibel.
Manuel grew up in Dodge City and graduated from Dodge City High School. He received an associates degree from St. Mary of The Plains College in Dodge City. Manuel first worked for K.D.O.T. as an engineer tech for several years and later worked for EBH Engineering of Cimarron. He later worked for J.A.G. of Dodge City. He love all sports especially softball, hunting and fishing. He was loved by everyone he met and was funny and had a very radiant smile. He brought the best out of other people.
He was a member of the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe and the G.I. Forum both of Dodge City.
Manuel is survived by his companion, Mary A. Straight, Dodge City; three sons Matthew Esquibel and wife Tuyen, Edmond, Oklahoma, Justin Straight and wife Jil, Dodge City, and Tanner Straight, U.S.N., San Diego, California; a daughter Brandice Montes and husband Adam, Pueblo West, Colorado; three grandchildren, Alize and Makenzie Esquibel, Edmond, Oklahoma and Asyiah Montes, West Pueblo, Colorado; Aunts Debbie Esquibel and Nellie Herrera both of Dodge City; and many other aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral service will be held at Swaim Funeral Home, Dodge City on Thursday, June 13, 2013 at 2:00 P.M. with Rev. Ted Skalsky presiding. Inurnment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Dodge City. Vigil service will be Wednesday, June 12, 2013 at 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home. There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place. However, friends may sign the book from 9 A.M. to 8 P.M. Wednesday, June 12, 2013 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Manuel Esquibel Memorial Fund, Million Dollar Smile Man, in care of Sunflower Bank, 2408 1st Ave., Dodge City, Ks. 67801 in care of the funeral home.
