  • Earlier this week we asked our Facebook fans to answer the following question; "What was your favorite summer job and why?" And told them their responses may be used in an upcoming article. Here are the responses we've received.
Chanda Moore Hudson: "This is my third year working at the Home of Stone. I love it. Passing on the history of the home and the city, meeting people from all over the world and most days I get to learn something from them!"
AmberMike Troutman: "The Big Well in Greensburg all thru high school You wouldn't believe all the people I met!!"
Gretchen Torrez: "The Dairy Bar in Jetmore KS, started when I was 14 and loved it.... I enjoyed all the customers and of course at that age, was really liking all the custom harvesters that came in.... mighty cute I thought...."
Stan Trekell: "I was Dodge City's original ice cream man."
Ecco Flax: "When I was 14 years of age I worked at the Home of Stone, I loved the history. History is my favorite thing to learn and work with. I would live to work there any summer."
Darren Heeke: "Wheat harvest. Loved everything about it."
Pat Heeke: "Definitely working in a fireworks stand on the Kansas/Nebraska state line. Wheat harvest always seemed to prevent shooting fireworks at home because of the fire danger to the crop. But the boss would let us 'test the products' on the highway so we could tell the customers about them. Getting paid to shoot a bunch of fireworks for a week as a teenager = best job ever!"
