The Dodge City Athletics won their second straight series against the Jayhawk's eastern division squad in wild fashion: a 15-4 victory over the El Dorado Broncos at McDonald Stadium.
Every Athletic player in the batting order had at least one hit and Dodge City scored in eight of the nine innings to take two of three games away from the host Broncos.
Aaron Blair was 4-for-5 with three runs scored, a home run and two runs batted in for Dodge City (9-11, 4-9 Jayhawk), while David LaFleur was 2-for-5 with four RBIs on a double and triple. Dillon Engelhart and Ben Gann also hit home runs in the victory.
The Athletics scored in the first inning on a sacrifice fly hit by Brian Mills, then extended the lead to 3-0 in the third on Engelhart's home run to start the frame and a RBI by LaFleur.
Dodge City increased the score to 5-0 on RBI singles by Woody Drexler in the fourth and Blair in the fifth.
El Dorado (11-7, 8-7) got on the board with three in the bottom of the fifth. Trevor Ezell hit a two-run single and a sacrifice fly by Clayton Taylor to cut the deficit to two.
Dodge City got two runs back in the top of the sixth on a two-run triple by LaFleur with the Broncos answering in the bottom of the frame with their final run on a RBI groundout by Wade Stramp.
The Athletics made the score 9-3 on a RBI double by Cole Davis and a RBI single by Joe Haddox. Dodge City added another run in the eighth on Blair's home run: his third of the season.
The final five runs for the Athletics came in the ninth. Haddox knocked in two with a double and he later scored on a fielders' choice on a ball hit by LaFleur. Gann closed out the scoring with his two-run home run.
The Athletics host the Boulder (Colo.) Collegians tonight at 7 p.m. on Cavalier Field.
