  • The Dodge City Rangers' winning streak ended at 12 games late Tuesday night after losing the second game of a doubleheader to the Hays Eagles 5-3 at Indian Field.
The Rangers (14-2) gave up three runs in the first inning and were having to play catch-up the rest of the contest in earning a split to the twinbill.
Andrew Balderaz was the losing pitcher for the Rangers in the second game. Balderaz gave up five runs (three earned), six hits and three walks while striking out five in his six innings of work.
Balderaz scored the first run in the opening inning with a single, stole second, reached third on a groundout and scored on a wild pitch.
The Eagles scored three runs in the bottom of the first with the help of a fielding error on a possible inning-ending double play. Layne Downing hit a two-run triple and Kade Parker followed with a RBI single.
Dodge City cut the score to 3-2 in the top of the second when Drew Chance walked, went to third on a double by Dawson Davis and scored on a groundout by Austin Weiser. Hays scored a run in the bottom of the second before the Rangers scored the final run in the third when Jordan Doan walked, reached second and third on wild pitches and scored on a balk.
