The Dodge City Athletics won their second straight Jayhawk League game with a road victory Tuesday night over the Derby Twins 10-4 at Derby High Stadium.
The Athletics scored three runs in the first, third and fifth inning to build the lead before the Twins scored four runs in the sixth inning.
Dillon Engelhart went 4-for-4 with a run and two runs batted in, while Jordan Slaton and T.J. Cox knocked in two runs apiece for the Athletics in the win.
Ryan Petersen gave up four runs, eight hits and walk while striking out two in seven innings of work to earn the decision on the mound for Dodge City.
Dodge City (14-19, 7-16) opened up the scoring in the top of the first with a three-run home run by LaFleur; and increased the lead to 4-0 when Zach Jacobs singled, went to second on a wild pitch, and scored on a RBI single by Engelhart.
The Athletics increased the lead to 7-0 in the third on a RBI by Slaton, followed by a two-run home run by Cox.
Slaton, Jacobs and Engelhart all hit RBI singles in the fifth inning to increase the Athletics' score to 10-0.
The Twins (13-15, 11-15) scored all four of their runs in the sixth inning on a RBI single by Casey Scott, a two-run home run by Jason McMurray, followed by a solo home run by Kyle Bilbrey.
Stephen Carbajal gave up seven runs, nine hits and a walk while striking out four in four innings of work to take the loss for the Twins.
The two teams return to action for another league game at 7 p.m. tonight.
