Derby designated hitter Cody Robinson hit two home runs and knocked in five runs to give the host Twins a 6-4 victory over the Dodge City Athletics in the final game of the season series at Panthers Field.
The Athletics still won the season series 4-2, winning the first two games in both three-game battles before Derby claimed the final game of each set.
Brian Mills went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run, while Zach Jacobs was 3-for-5 with a run and Louis Diaz was 2-for-4 with a RBI.
All of Derby's runs came off of home runs. Robinson hit a grand slam in the second inning and a solo shot in the eighth. Kyle Bilbery also hit a solo home run in the fourth.
The Athletics scored two in the first on Mills' home run, but Derby scored four on a Robinson's grand slam.
Dodge City scored single runs in the third on a RBI single by Louis Diaz, and the fourth on a sacrifice fly by Dillon Engelhart to tie the game. The tie was short-lived as the Twins scored on Bilbery's home run. Derby got their final run on Robinson's second home run of the game.
Ty Thomas was the losing pitcher for Dodge City. He gave up five runs (four earned), eight hits and one walk while striking out four.
Brantley Klauch was the winning pitcher, giving up four runs (three earned), 10 hits and four strikeouts to earn the division.
NOTE — The Athletics' series against the Denver Cougars for this weekend has been cancelled. The next game for the Athletics' is a home contest Monday night against the Hays Larks. The first pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m.
