  • A federal judge is warning attorneys in a lawsuit filed by Planned Parenthood against parts of a new Kansas abortion law that changing her schedule for the case could delay a hearing for months.
Attorneys for both sides have asked Chief Judge Kathryn Vratil to revise her schedule for considering the case in U.S. District Court. Vratil had scheduled a hearing for July 29.
Planned Parenthood is challenging parts of the law dealing with abortion providers' websites and what they must tell patients before terminating pregnancies.
Attorneys said they needed more time and asked Vratil for a telephone conference call July 22 to set a new schedule.
Instead, Vratil scheduled a telephone conference for Friday afternoon. She said with other cases, she couldn't reschedule a hearing until December.
