  • Helen Roesener, 90, died Friday, July 12, at St. Francis Hospital in Wichita.  She was born December 2, 1922, in Ford County, to Henry and Nathalie (Heronemus) Gerdes.
    Mrs. Roesener grew up on the family farm eight miles south of Dodge City.  She married Fred Roesener on November 27, 1940, at Hope Lutheran Church south of Dodge City.  She was a homemaker.  She lived all her life on the farm prior to moving to Dodge City in 1982.
    Survivors include two daughters, Deanna Schremmer of Wichita, and Phyllis Shugart and husband Leroy of McPherson;  four grandchildren,  Brad Shugart and wife Dominic, Brent Shugart and wife Suzee, Doug Schremmer and wife Sandy, and Vicky Gegen and husband Greg; and six great grandchildren, Tyler and Kylee Gegen, Alex and Rachael Schremmer, and Ashlyn and Lazarus Shugart.
    Funeral service will be held at Christ the King Lutheran Church, Dodge City, on Monday, July 15, 2013 at 10:00 A.M. with Rev. Kent Groethe  presiding.  Burial will follow at Christ the King Lutheran Cemetery.  Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Home on Sunday, July 14, 2013 from noon to 8:00 P.M.,  with family receiving friends from 7:00 to 8:00 P.M..  Memorials are suggested to Christ the King Lutheran Church or Oaks Indian Mission, P.O.
