  • Mildred Preston, 95, died July 31, 2013 at McPherson Care Center.  She was born September 11, 1917 in Ford, Ks. to Louis W. and Olive (Seal) Olive.  She worked most of her life in the Ford area as a cook at both Ford and Wilroads Gardens schools.  She also worked at the Ft. Dodge Post Office for 26 years.  She had attended the Wilroads Gardens Christian Church until moving to McPherson in September of 2001.  On July 25, 1941 she married George Print Preston, Jr. at Coldwater, Ks.  He died February 4, 2002.
    Mildred is survived by two daughters: George Ann Cavanaugh of McPherson and Cindy McDowell and husband Leroy of Lindsborg; a brother, Richard Olive of Ford; granddaughter, Mandi Franklin and two great granddaughters “Bri” and “Kenzie”, all of Lindsborg.
    She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, George, a sister, Donna Lou and a grandson, Mathew.
    Graveside Services and Interment will be 1:00 P.M. Saturday, August 3, 2013 at the Valley View Cemetery, Roxbury, Ks.  Pastor Nancy Modin will officiate.
    The family will greet friends from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday, August 2nd at Minnis Mortuary, Bucklin KS.  The family has suggested memorial donations to the Mildred Preston Memorial Fund c/o Minnis Mortuary, PO Box 516, Bucklin KS 67834 to be used for improvements to the Wilroads Gardens Christian Church.
