Do you love a parade? Do your kids? Saddle up and get the kids ready for the Dodge City Days Kiddie Parade sponsored by the Shrine Club of Dodge City. It’s open to all kids 12 years of age and younger.
The parade will proceed from the Sacred Heart School Parking Lot to Boot Hill Museum Parking lot. Line up and registration begins at 9 a.m. at Sacred Heart and the parade begins at 10 a.m. Cold water will be provided to all participants.
Cash prizes will be awarded in four different categories (individuals, small group, and large groups), along with one overall “best of parade” winner. Entries will be judged based on creativity and this year’s Dodge City Days theme: “A New Twist on the Old West.”
According to Kiddie Parade coordinator, Paul Lehmkuhler, “this parade is a great chance for our young people to celebrate our Western Heritage.”
According to Lehmkuhler, nearly 150 kids took part in last year’s parade and they are planning for that many and more this year. “Moms and Dads” are also encouraged to take part and join in with their children’s parade entry.
Cash Awards totaling $400 will be presented at the end of the trail.
