  • Trudie Trent, 70, passed away Sunday, August 4, 2013, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita Kansas. She had a 4 year illness that affected her lungs. She was so strong and graceful during that time and tried so hard not to let this disease slow her down. She never let a day go by without telling us she appreciated and loved us even though at times it was hard for her to breathe. She never stopped teaching life lessons even at the most difficult times of her illness.
Trudie was born November 15, 1942 in Dodge City, Ks. She graduated from Dodge City High School in 1961. On December 18, 1961, she married her high school sweetheart Robert "Bob" G. Trent Jr. They lived in California for 12 years then moved back to Dodge City. Trudie worked at Anthony's Clothing Store for 15 years. She retired in January 2010 after working for USD 443 as a para-professional for 17 years.
Trudie loved spending time with her grandchildren, going to their sporting events and school performances. When she was not involved with her family, she enjoyed watching the Kansas Jayhawks play football and basketball. Her hobby was going to garage sales to look for antiques. She got at thrill out of purchasing "the best find of the day".
She is survived by her husband Bob Trent Jr.; mother, Jenny Ramos of Dodge City; three children: Dion Trent and wife, Lisa, of Omaha, Neb.; Gina Gilman and husband, Eric, of Andover; Shane Trent and wife, Gini, of Dodge City; seven grandchildren: Kristian, Sheridan and Bryan Trent of Omaha, Neb.; Trent and Hunter Gilman of Andover; Ashley Winfrey and husband, Beau, of Eudora; Max Trent of Dodge City; great-granddaughter, Charley Winfrey of Eudora; brothers: Joe Soza of Lawrence; Bob Soza of Wichita; Paul Soza of Tesla, Cal.; step-brother, Jesse Ramos Jr. of Dodge City; sisters: Connie Soza, Emily Seacat, Grace Carmona, Betty Martinez all of Dodge City, and Flora Leon of Derby. Trudie was preceded in death by Cruz Soza, father, and Mike Soza, brother.
A Grave Side Service will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent to Trudie J Trent Memorial Fund 502 Sunset Ct Dodge City, KS 67801.
