Dessie Lee Manning was born May 20, 1921 in America, Okla., to Roy and Callie Lou Sanders.

She was united in marriage to James Dea Potter in 1937. From this union were born three daughters, Bonnie Fay (McDade) who had three children, Khristeen, James "Jimmy" and Susan, Rosie Lou Tooman had two daughters, Kathy Lee "Kate" and Audrey Dawn and Jan Dea (Plain) had three children John Weslee "Wes", Tonya June, and Jerry Evan.

After James' death she worked hard to support her three daughters alone. In 1960 she married Rev. Tom Virgle Manning, known by everyone as TV Manning whom she loved very much and he adored her. From this union she inherited seven great-children she loved very much. Manon who had three children, Leo deceased, Sherri and Michael. Dean had only one daughter, Gayle. Vanny had three children, Gary, Doreta, and Gary. Dorrance had four children, Darrel, Daniel, Danna and Donna. Jenny had three children Katheran, Thomas, and David. Mary had two children Mickeal, deceased, and Scott and David. The youngest was Virgil, who had four daughters Lari, Ronna, Tonya, and Stephanie. Mom used to call them her wonderful seven and she loved them very much.

After brother Tom passed away mom was so lost until Vanie had a heart attack, so mom was very busy helping care for him, until he recovered enough to go to Washington to be with his family, then she was alone again.

She taught Sunday school from small children to adults. She worked at Vacation Bible School for a number of years and kept books for her home church in Pratt. She used to get up before daylight and make her spudnut dough, to make spudnuts for the church to sale to raise money for missions or to pay a bill. She was kind and soft spoken but you knew when she said no she meant it. She worked in the Kansas conference with brother Tom helping do all kinds of things from church camp to youth camp.

She has 45 great-grandchildren, and 16 great-great-grandchildren.

Dessie departed this world at the age of 92, Aug. 13, 2013 at 2:15 p.m. in Tyler, Texas.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 21, at Center Point Church, Pratt, with the Rev. Barry Morris officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery in Pratt. Arrangements are under the direction of Larrison Family Mortuaries, in Pratt. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Larrison Family Mortuaries, Pratt.
