  • Dodge City residents die in car crash

  • On Monday, Sept. 09 shortly after 6 a.m. three vehicles were involved in a car accident, leaving two dead.

  • On Monday, Sept. 09 shortly after 6 a.m. three vehicles were involved in a car accident, leaving two dead.
    According to the Kansas Highway Patrol crash log the accident took place in Gray County on U.S. 50, ten miles west of Cimarron.
    The accident occurred when a 2000 Ford car, driven by Jose Saldana-Nava was driving westbound on U.S. 50 and slowed down to make a left turn. A 2004 Ford pickup, driven by Cesar Bautista-Cruz, 20, of Dodge City was driving westbound on U.S. 50 and made an improper pass. A 1997 Peterbilt semi driven by Jose F. Mota, 44, of Garden City was driving eastbound on U.S. 50 and swerved to miss the Ford pickup. The pickup and the semi hit each other nearly head on.
    Bautista-Cruz and his passenger, Jeremiah A. Lee, 22, of Dodge City died from injuries sustained in the wreck. Both Cruz and Lee were wearing their seat belt.
    Mota, sustained non-specified injuries and Saldana-Nava, was not injured.
    Both Mota and Nava were wearing their seat belt.
