  • The Bucklin Public Library will have a Grand Opening for its new building at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 29, at its new location at 120 South Main in Bucklin. According to Director of the library Kathy Leon, the new building originally opened on Aug. 26. Space has more than doubled compared with the old building. Features include an updated children’s department, a large handicapped accessible meeting room and more public access computers. It was designed by Lawrence architect Hans Fischer and takes advantage of natural light. According to Leon, the old library had multiple problems. Since it was owned by the city, the city and public library board decided to construct the new building. Funds for the new building came from the Kansas tax credit and generous community support fundraising. The public is invited to attend the grand opening. “I hope that everybody comes out to view our community accomplishment,” Leon said.
