The Dodge City Convention and Visitors Bureau is hosting a presentation on customer service skills at 9:30 a.m., 1:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 19, at the Magouirk Conference Center at 4100 W. Comanche in Dodge City.
Titled “Get the Heck into Dodge & Find your Moments of Truth in Customer Service,” the presentation will target communication and language barriers, how to interact and sell products, along with how to cope with difficult customers. The event is open to the public and admission is free.
According to City Manager Ken Strobel, the event is intended to be of assistance to local businesses, giving them an opportunity to learn new methods of customer service.
“We’re really trying to become the experts at customer service and hospitality not only to our visitors but to our community,” Jan Stevens of the Dodge City Convention and Visitors Bureau said.
The presentation is the second in a series that began last year with “Get the Heck into Dodge & keep them coming back for more.” This year’s speaker will be Ruth St. Pierre, who also attended the event last year.
“I think what others will gain is perspective on how the customer experience influences their buying decisions, how it will encourage repeat business, and also to be mindful of the image they’re creating of themselves, their company and Dodge City in general,” St. Pierre said.
She also added, however, that customer service lessons aren’t merely confined to the business world.
“Customer experience and customer service applies in all areas of our life, and I think this program helps emphasize that,” St. Pierre said.
