  • KANSASWORKS is hosting a virtual career fair at noon on Tuesday, Sept. 24, at the Dodge City KANSASWORKS Workforce Center at 2308 First Ave or online. The fair will introduce attendees to opportunities with Convergys Corp., a relationship management company. Convergys is looking to hire up to 500 home agents during the fall. Full time and seasonal positions are available including customer support representatives, sales and service representatives, and technical customer support representatives. Home agents who work for Convergys will be paid $9 per hour plus incentives. Positions may include salary, health benefits, flexible scheduling and paid training. Duties include providing customer service support for Convergys clients. “The cool thing about this is that it gives Kansans all over the state who have access to a broadband connection and have customer service experience the opportunity to work from their home,” said Keith Meyers, director of training services for KANSASWORKS. The career fair is being offered in several other locations in Kansas, including Emporia, Garden City and Hutchinson. Participants can attend either in person or remotely. In person attendees are encouraged to dress appropriately. Staff from KANSASWORKS will be present to help with resume preparation and job counseling services. Though Convergys will not conduct formal interviews during the career fair, job seekers may apply online through the company’s website at www.convergysworkathome.com. In order to be considered, agents must meet certain home office standards, including having a quiet place to work at home, a personal computer that meets Convergys’ minimum standards, high-speed internet access and a noise-canceling headset. “I think especially for individuals who might be located in some of our more rural parts of the state, right now this is a great way to work for a quality company, that gives you the ability of not having to commute to work,” Meyers said. “This is a great job with full benefits, the ability to work at home, not having to worry about putting gas in your car,” said Sally Jones, senior talent acquisition manager for Convergys. For additional information or to attend the career fair online, contact the Dodge City KANSASWORKS Workforce Center at 620-227-2149 or visit KANSASWORKS.com.
