  • Enrollment at Dodge City Community College (DCCC) and Pratt Community College (PCC) remains relatively strong this year. Enrollment at DCCC is about flat compared with last year. Although enrollment for on-campus students did not dip, online enrollment through eduKan saw a slight drop, according to Dean of Students Kelly Russell. eduKan is a consortium of six community colleges in western Kansas that provides online classes. The numbers stand in contrast to those of Pratt Community College, which saw a six percent increase in enrollment over last year. Both on-campus and online enrollment saw an increase. PCC has a total head count of 1,541, while DCCC has an enrollment of 1,785. The helicopter program is among one of the growing programs at DCCC. Another growing program is the lineman program, which is being offered in multiple locations, including Emporia and Topeka. Residence halls at the college are nearly full. At PCC, nursing is among the most popular programs. PCC also offers a new program in wildlife enterprise management, the only associate’s degree of its kind in the state of Kansas. The dormitories are also at near full capacity at PCC, having reached 96 percent. The enrollment numbers stand in contrast to figures released by the Kansas Board of Regents, which show a decrease of 1.33 percent or 2,504 students throughout Kansas’ 32 public universities, technical colleges and community colleges. The numbers showed an increase in enrollment at the state’s technical colleges, flat enrollment at public universities and a decrease in overall enrollment at the state’s community colleges.
