Meade to play LaCrosse in sub-state
Jett Little scored three touchdowns and Morgan Olvera added a fourth as the Meade Buffaloes continued their drive for a repeat as state champions after a 28-0 victory over Smith Center in Class 2-1A regional action. The Buffaloes ran for 357 yards as a team, while the defense clamped down by giving up only 170 total yards to the Redmen. Little ran the ball 34 times for 177 yards, while Morgan Alvera had 29 carries for 175 yards. The Buffaloes recorded their only score of the first half midway through the first quartrer when Olvera was able to punch into the endzone from a yard out to put Meade ahead 7-0. Little scored two touchdowns in the third quarrier on runs from two and six yards away and added a third score early in the fourth quarter from four yards out. The Buffaloes (10-1) will travel to LaCrosse for their sub-state matchup against the unbeaten Leopards in a rematch of last year's game at the same playoff level. Meade won last year's game 34-12 on the way to the state title. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
