  • A driving shot by Larry Beckett turned out to be the game-winning shot as the Conqs clamped down on defense in the late stages to record the victory over the Red Devils in Friday night action at United Wireless Arena. Beckett and E.J. Eaves blocked two shots in the final seconds as the Conqs were able to keep the Devils to two points in the final five minutes in coming back from a seven-point deficit. The Conqs were able to record the win despite getting outrebounded by 12 and outscored 21-15 in points off turnovers. Allen also lost to Pratt 80-68 on Saturday and fell to 4-3 on the season. Delvon Rencher scored 18 points to lead Dodge City in scoring, while Ameer Jackson added 10 and George Brock and Eaves added nine in the victory. The Conqs were 8-of-18 from three-point range. Raheem Tyler led the Devils with 14 points and nine rebounds, while Cody Sluder scored 13 and Courtney Stockard 10 in the loss. Allen shot 11-of-33 from the field in the second half. This game kept you on the edge of your seat as you watch these two teams battle on the court. From the start, Allen's two giants — Dalton Haist of Dodge and Raheem Tyner — were leading the way in this battle with their blocking and scoring. Dodge was trailing for most of the first half, but where able to keep it to one point at halftime. This was possible by Rencher's nine points in the first half, Ameer Jackson and George Brock with seven apiece. Dodge came out with determination and a force that was to be reckoned with, as they hit the court for the second half.The Conquistadors put the pressure on and forced some turnovers by the Red Devils. The Conqs pushed ahead on their last run with a three-pointer by Rencher shot a three pointer to bring Dodge within one point of tying the game. Dodge put pressure on the Allen offense and forced a turnover, leading to the final heroics by Beckett and Eaves.
