  • Red Demons lose to Colby in dual opener

  • The Dodge City High wrestling team lost its opening dual of the season, a 43-23 setback to the Colby Eagles. Clay Weil (126) and Cole Trent (170) were the only Red Demon wrestlers to record a victory. Two other wrestlers recorded major decision victories for DCHS -- Jaden McRoberts (132) and Nick Killion (145) -- and Jaquan Graves won by the decision for the final decision for the Demons. The Red Demons will return to action Saturday for their first tournament action of the tournament at the Gardner-Edgerton tournament. COLBY 43, DODGE CITY 23 106 -- Ernie Leija (C) won by major decision over Collin Clark, 12-3. 113 -- Tate Carney (C) pinned Landon Blackburn, :58. 120 -- Jaquan Graves (DC) beat David Mainus, 6-4. 126 -- Clay Weil (DC) pinned Tanner Elias, 4:23. 132 -- Jaden McRoberts (DC) won by major decision over Alex Young, 9-0. 138 -- Travis Finley (C) beat Tylor Garcia, 11-6. 145 -- Nick Killion (DC) won by major decision over Brady Holzmeister, 11-3. 152 -- Kyle Finley (C) beat Dylan Servis, 11-10. 160 -- Matthew Pieper (C) beat Zach Cook, 3-1. 170 -- Cole Trent (DC) pinned Connor Edmundson, 1:31. 182 -- Andrew Taylor (C) pinned Jhett Ostrom, 4:06. 195 -- Jay Ziegelmeier (C) pinned Michael Russell, 1:27. 220: Austin Hart (C) pinned Jacob Harshberger, 4:09. 285 -- Ethan Jay (C) pinned Brennan Tate, 1:45.
