  • The Dodge City Community College Board of Trustees approved new equipment purchases along with a consulting agreement at a regular monthly meeting held at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 10. At the meeting, sophomore Tim Bolmer was named Phi Theta Kappa student of the month. Foundation Director Roger Proffitt gave an update on plans for the proposed activity center and said that an updated design would be available within the next seven to 10 days. A bid proposal for the lease of 100 computers from Dell was approved. The three-year lease will cost $93,275.76. Dean of Technology and Distance Education Thad Russell said that approximately one-fourth to one-fifth of the computers on campus are more than five years old. The new computers will replace the oldest computers on campus. The board also approved a bid proposal for additional equipment for the college's Fire and EMS program. The new equipment will come from Municipal Emergency Services, Inc. and will cost $13,900. A consulting agreement with the nursing department was also approved. The agreement will allow for improved classroom content and provide additional instructors. The board approved its consent agenda, which included bills, emergency expenses, anticipated expenses and payroll. Anticipated expenses for December 2013 and January 2014 included G.E.D. transcripts and diplomas, health insurance and financial aid disbursements. A facilities use agreement was approved with United Wireless Arena for $4,500 for the college to use the facility on May 9 and 10, 2014 for rehearsal and graduation. Two employment contracts and an addendum to an employment contract were also approved.
