  • Manor of the Plains is issuing a call for entries in the Art is Ageless annual exhibit and competition, to take place Feb. 25 through March 13. Area artists 65 years of age and older are eligible to submit works of art, with a deadline for entries set at Feb. 14. Entries must be delivered to Manor of the Plains, 200 Campus Dr. in Dodge City. Art is Ageless is a program initiated in 1981 by Presbyterian Manors of Mid-America. It encourages manor residents and area seniors to express themselves creatively through its annual competition, musical and dramatic events, art classes, educational opportunities and current event discussions. “Art is ageless provides a unique opportunity for seniors to showcase their passions and interests,” Marketing Director of Manor of the Plains Kurt Lampe said in a news release. “This year, we expect to receive an impressive variety of entries.” Competition winners will be featured on the Art is Ageless website, ArtisAgeless.org, as well as the Manor of the Plains newsletter and website, ManorofthePlains.org. Winners will also be judged along with 17 other Presbyterian Manors of Mid-America (PMMA) communities at the system-wide level. Entries may then be selected to go for publication in PMMA's annual Art is Ageless calendar and note cards. To be eligible for the competition, works must have been completed since June 2009. Nine categories are included, along with designations of amateur or professional. Those artists not interested in the competition but who would still like to display their work may chose to enter the Art is Ageless exhibit only. To obtain an entry form or for further information, contact Kurt Lampe at (620) 225 - 1928 or klampe@pmma.org. Entry forms can also be downloaded at ArtisAgeless.org.
