  • Seven candidates will compete for three seats on the Dodge City Commission in the Apr. 1 election.
Voters can select up to three candidates. The top two winners of the election will serve four-year terms. The third place candidate will serve two.
Since fewer than 10 candidates filed to run, there will be no primary election.
Incumbents Rick Sowers and Kent Smoll are joined on the ballot by Jeff Turner, the senior pastor at First Missionary Church; Jan Scoggins, a former state representative; Joe Peters, the director of development at Servi-Tech; Liliana Zuniga, the owner of West Coast Martial Arts and Lily's Jewelry and Pawn; and Russ McBee, director of financial aid at Dodge City Community College.
A previous story prematurely reported Scoggins' registration, which had not been finalized at the time of publication.
