  • Kathryn Frances Anderson, 80, passed peacefully on to eternity Wednesday morning, Jan. 22, 2014, in the care of the Good Shepherd Hospice at the Pine Village Nursing Home, Moundridge after an extended and brave struggle.

  • Kathryn Frances Anderson, 80, passed peacefully on to eternity Wednesday morning, Jan. 22, 2014, in the care of the Good Shepherd Hospice at the Pine Village Nursing Home, Moundridge after an extended and brave struggle.
    She was born Kathryn Frances Schafer, the daughter and youngest of six children to John G. and Mae Ruth (Siebert) Schafer on June 25, 1933, in rural McPherson. She was united in marriage to J W. Anderson on Nov. 15, 1954, in Hebron, Neb. J still resides at the residence in the rural McPherson county home north of Canton, where they moved 32 years ago. They recently celebrated 59 years of marriage.
    Kathryn was a member of the First Baptist Church, Canton, the American Baptist Women and the American Legion Auxiliary, McPherson.
    She worked tireless years caring for her family, working nights as a nurse’s aide and in later years, was employed at Road Ranger in the saw mill.
    She is survived by her husband J; their five children, Vickie (Terry) Culver, McPherson, John W. Anderson and Kristine (Larry) Little, all of Canton, Clinton Ray Anderson and Arlyn Jay (Elaine) Anderson, all of McPherson; 15 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Marjorie Stillings, Paola and Rosemond Brown, Columbia, Md. and many, many nieces, nephews and relatives.
    Her parents, one sister, Dorothy Garrett and two brothers, Johnnie and Donnie Schafer preceded her in death.
    Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 24, 2014, at the First Baptist Church, Canton, and she will be laid to rest in the Roxbury Valley View Cemetery. There will be no public visitation.
    Memorials have been established with Pine Village Nursing Home, Moundridge, Good Shepherd Hospice or the First Baptist Church, Canton, in care of Olson’s Mortuary, Canton.
    The family extends their appreciation for all the prayers, cards, letters, calls, concerns, visits and comfort from family and friends on behalf of Kathryn during her stay at Pine Village.
