When police entered the home, they found both Gary Weaver, 45 and his wife Erin Weaver, 31 dead in the home.
Two people are dead after an apparent murder-suicide on Helen St. in Augusta Thursday night.
According to police, a boy called 911 at 9:41 p.m. and reported hearing multiple gunshots and his mother screaming. The police arrived at 1235 Helen St. just three minutes later and established a perimeter. The boy was instructed to crawl out a window to safety where he was met by safety officers.
Augusta Safety Department Chief Tyler Brewer arrived minutes later and declared an active shooter scene. Captain Bruce Relph, Sergeant Chad McCluskey and Officer Lindon Blank were among the officers who entered the house assess the situation.

Mr. Weaver was apparently the shooter and took his own life after shooting his wife to death.
The boy was released to the custody of his father.
Superintendent Dr. John Black said the school system would provide any emotional support needed for students affected by the situation.
"The middle school principal was notified immediately, along with the other principals," Dr. Black said. "Our counselors will assist with any problems or emotional issues. This is very sad for everyone."
