  • Here are five ways to have fun this weekend.
    1. The big movies opening this week are “Muppets Most Wanted,” a PG flick starring Kermit, Miss Piggy, Tina Fey, Ricky Gervais and other lovable characters; and “Divergent,” a PG-13 post-apocalyptic thriller based on the book by the same name.
    2. This is the first weekend of March Madness, and there will be a host of games to watch, with first- and second-round games taking place. How’s your bracket doing? Are you still in the running to win $1 billion from Warren Buffett?
    3. This is the first weekend of spring. Oh, joy! Oh, blessed relief from the cold! Oh, it’s still going to be below freezing in many parts of the country? Well, you can create a little bit of spring inside by decorating for the season, tuning up your bikes and other such activities. Spring weather will arrive eventually, we just know it.
    4. Friday is World Poetry Day, a day designed to get people across the world interested in poetry in all its forms. According to the official website, “World Poetry Day is also meant to encourage a return to the oral tradition of poetry recitals, to promote the teaching of poetry, to restore a dialogue between poetry and the other arts such as theatre, dance, music and painting, and to support small publishers and create an attractive image of poetry in the media.”
    5. If you’re not burnt out on sports by the NCAA tournament, there are plenty of other options this weekend. The NBA and NHL seasons are headed into the home stretch, NASCAR takes place Sunday and Major League Soccer recently kicked off. Check your TV listings for broadcast times.
