The Dodge City High boys track team opened up the season by winning the Ulysses Invitational team title; while the Lady Demons placed second in the girls final standings.
The Red Demons won five events on the day and were second in six events to pick up 152 points on the day.
Oscar Carmona led the way for the Red Demons by winning the 800 and 1,600 meter runs. Carmona finished in a time of two minutes in the 800 and 4:31 in the 1,600.
Blaik Middleton won the 100 meter dash in a time of 11.42 seconds; Immanuel Galloway won the 300 hurdles (43.02) and the 4x400 relay team of Carmona, Elder Colindres, Zach Pedigo and Galloway won in a time of 3 minutes, 32 seconds.
Middleton also finished second in the 200 (24.10), while Pedigo placed third (24.26) in the event. Colindres finished second in the 800 (2:04) and the 1,600 (4:39).
Other top three finishers included Noah Williams (110 hurdles, second, 17:26), Tyler Trent (triple jump, second, 41-7 1/4), Tanner Flax (javelin, second, 167-0), and Jacob Harshberger (shot put, third, 42-6 1/2). The 4x100 relay team also finished third (44.8).
The Lady Demons scored 147 points on the day and had three individual winners: Chandra Sain (pole vault, 9 feet), Katrina Roenfeldt (javelin, 114-1) and Tia Bradshaw (triple jump, 33-1).
Individuals finishing second include Brianna Bradshaw (100 hurdles, 16.74), Ashley Nelson (triple jump, 32-9 1/2) and Rachel Durler (javelin, 101-9). The 4x100 relay (52.37) and 4x800 relay (10:44.44) also finished second.
Lady Demons placing third include Brekk Flax (100, 13:48; 200, 27.89), Jessie Harshberger (400, 1:01.41), Jasmine Duarte (1,600, 5:53.11) and Victoria Connolly (shot put, 30-2 3/4). The 4x400 relay (4:20.42) also finished third in their race.
