The Dodge City Red Demons dominated both games of a doubleheader Friday afternoon over the Wichita South Titans.
The Red Demons won the first game 23-0 and completed the sweep with a 27-7 decision over the Titans. The first game went three innings, while the second went four.
"We played well today and hit the ball hard all over the field," said Dodge City head coach Daniel Rogers. "We (also) didn't have any strikeouts on the day, so we did well at the plate. We also played well on defense. It was just a good day."
Andrew Balderaz, Bryce Unruh and Dawson Davis all went 4-for-4 in the first game for the Red Demons (5-1). Davis had three doubles, Unruh had two triples and both along with Gideon Wells had three RBIs; while Jhett Ostrom had four RBIs in the game.
James Royal was the winning pitcher for the Demons, giving up two hits and striking out two.
Drew Chance and Austin Weiser had five RBIs apiece in the second game, while Balderaz and Colton Schulte knocked in two apiece.
Jackson Oldham pitched the final two innings to record the win for Dodge City.
The Red Demons will play a single game Tuesday night at home against Garden City in a non-league matchup. The first pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
NOTE: Tuesday is "Pack the Park" Night at Demon Field. There will be prizes given away after each inning including PlayStation 4, a Samsung 39-inch television; packages involving the Dodge City Law and Mariah Hills; a free night say at the Hampton Inn; gift cards from Applebee's and Montana Mike's; and gift certificates from Sears and Central Station.
All elementary students will be admitted to the game free with a paying adult and will run the bases after the game. The Demons are also giving out hamburger at the game.
