WELLINGTON — Jagger Harjo and Reid Barnett combined on a six-hit shutout as the Dodge City Athletics earned a 6-0 victory Friday night over the Wellington Heat in the first game of a three-game series at Hibbs-Hobben Stadium.

Harjo gave up five hits and three walks while striking out 10 in seven innings of work for the Athletics, while gave up one hit and one walk in two innings of work to close out the game.

Ben Craft went 2-for-5 with a run and two RBIs in the game to lead Dodge City (10-12, 5-12). Craft is now hitting .371 with 15 RBIs this season. Dalton Thomas also brought home two runs in the win.

It was only the second league loss for the Heat this season.

Dodge City got its first run in the first inning when Brad Jarreau opened up the game with a single and eventually scored on a bases-loaded walk issued to Carson Crites off losing pitcher Dan Eck.

The Athletics broke the game wide open in the seventh with their other five runs, all with two outs.

Jarreau brought home a run on a single, Craft later had a two-run single and Thomas closed out the inning with a two-run home run.

Wellington (22-2, 14-2) stranded five runners in scoring position in the first four innings and the Athletics pulled off double plays in the seventh and eighth innings to stop other potential scoring chances.
