Cordelia Froetschner will turn 90 on Sept. 5. Her family is hosting a come-and-go open house to celebrate the event from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 30, at her home, located at 903 E. Seventh St., Kinsley, KS 67547.
Cordelia was born Sept. 5, 1918, at her home in rural Ford County. She married Carl Froetschner on Sept. 6, 1936. He passed away on Aug. 4, 2004.
She was a farm wife and worked as a homemaker, raising four children. Barbara (deceased) and spouse, Bill Gastler, of Martinsburg, Mo.; John Froetschner and spouse, Martha, Topeka; Lynn Schaller, Kinsley; and Ruth and spouse, Louis Wayland Schrader, Hays. She has 17 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.
Cordelia is a gifted writer of short stories and poems. She has always been a dedicated member of the Zion Lutheran Church and its Ladies Aid group, where she attends monthly work days to make quilts for the needy. She is a talented crafter and enjoys crocheting baby afghans and doilies. She has painted numerous ceramic pieces for family and friends and enjoys gardening and flowers. She has done volunteer work for the Kinsley Public Library and Twice is Nice and is a member of the Red Hat Ladies.
