A special seminar has been cooked up so people with diabetes can learn more about managing their condition and cooking healthy. “What’s Cookin’ with Diabetes” is a free, two-hour seminar prepared by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas, K-State Research and Extension, and Prime Therapeutics LLC.
Two seminars will be conducted from 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 14 at the Dodge City Senior Center, 2408 Central Ave. One seminar will be presented in English and one in Spanish. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m.
The seminars will include:
• A chance to taste-test healthy recipes.
• A sprinkling of tips for healthy eating by Extension agent Ethel Schneweis (English seminar) or Francisca Devora, RN (Spanish seminar).
• A measurable amount of information on managing diabetes from a diabetes educator, Anette Adelhardt, ARNP (English seminar) or Devora (Spanish seminar).
• An abundance of giveaways and door prizes.
While the seminar is free, pre-registration is required due to limited seating. Pre-registration for this event closes Oct. 7.
