KU announces more than 4,450 candidates for degrees

 The names of more than 4,450 candidates for degrees at the University of Kansas this spring — representing 95 Kansas counties, 48 other states and the District of Columbia and 44 other countries — have been announced by the University Registrar.

The decision to open a school, to be called Alpha Christian Academy, came at the start of 2008 after many years of discussion. With 11 classrooms already open in the spacious 27,000-square-foot church, Scott said they hoped to start with 75 to 80 students in grades Kindergarten through Eighth.


DCCC, state struggle to find nursing instructors

They touch lives every day, but their numbers are growing alarmingly low. As the medical field keeps expanding, the number of nursing instructors is dipping throughout the United States and in Dodge City.
    “We've seen this trend for about the last five years,” said Rebecca Bredfeldt, director of allied health at Dodge City Community College. “In Kansas, we've seen it in mostly rural areas and around the extreme edges of the state.”
