Real card dealers have personality.
And Boot Hill Casino is looking to train about 50 of them right now.
Two gaming veterans who recently moved to Dodge City sat down and talked to the Globe Tuesday about what it takes to be a good dealer.
"First of all, it's nothing like the movies," said Boot Hill Casino senior director of operations Mark Kashuda, pointing to the movie 'Casino' as a good example of what the job is not. "Modern casinos are much too highly regulated to bear much resemblance to Hollywood's version of the gaming industry."
Kashuda said that gaming is first and foremost a customer service industry.
"That's why the first thing we look for is someone with an engaging personality who can make people feel comfortable," he said.
